During Anne's week in Fiji, she heard of an exhibition by Rory McEwen at Kew Gardens. In researching what else she might do over there, she found frenchescapade.com, who were running a watercolour course on the Costa Brava in Spain. And since her flights were all being funded from Qantas Frequent Flyer points, and the only available route home was via Helsinki ... well, what better excuse for a stop-over? So, on 13 August 2013, off she went.
First stop London, accommodation courtesy of Paul's sister Joan, whose hospitality even extended to collection from Heathrow at about 6.00 am, and delivery there even earlier at the end of the visit. Joan's apartment is very pleasantly situated overlooking the main entrance to Battersea Park, and just a short walk from the Albert Bridge.

And a day trip on the train to Brighton is something one absolutely has to do on an August Bank Holiday!
Moreton-in-Marsh is a little over 1 h 30 m by train from London Paddington. But of course it's a different world. By a fortunate accident, Anne ended up staying at the White Hart Royal Hotel.
